About me

I am currently Fabrication Specialist at the University of Iowa Dance and Opera Costume Shop, in Iowa City.

Previously I was Lead Costume Artist at Richmond Ballet, in Richmond, Virginia. I studied make-up effects at Douglas Education Center, in Monessen, Pennsylvania. I originate from the tiny town of Wabasso, Minnesota

As Fabrication Specialist I conduct costume patterning and construction, backstage wardrobe, and the daily activities in an ever busy producing costume shop. Previously in my position at Richmond Ballet, I worked in the processes of new builds for world premiers, rebuilds of repertoire, and maintenance of current costumes in storage, and working backstage as wardrobe supervisor in studio performances and lead dresser in larger theater productions.

I take pride in my ability to help in creating costumes from every step. Planning build details based on renderings or photos. Creating or altering patterns and creating mock-ups. Assisting in fittings of early stage builds and fulfilling alterations. Watching the creations come to life on stage and the laundry that comes afterward. and even the pencil pushing work of making up sample sheets, storage records, and finalizing patterns for stock.

In my free time I love to quilt, from large bedspreads to small trivets. I often bake treats, breads, cookies, and any other treat that suits my fancy. When I can I love to explore walking trails and parks as well as visit my family back home.
